China extends Lunar New Year holiday in effort to contain coronavirus

Information relating to the Coronavirus outbreak in Hubei province

We would like to provide you with an update about the impact that the serious outbreak of Coronavirus is having on Nordicon and our agent’s operations in China

The Chinese central government have earlier announced it will extend the Lunar New Year holiday to 2nd of February in an effort to contain the outbreak. The holiday was originally due to end today on 30/1, with all Globelink offices returning to work no later than 31/1.

Several local governments have since then decided to take additional measurements and declared that all non-essential enterprises will be closed until 9/2. Many of Globelinks offices in China therefore remain closed.

Specific offices intend to return as per below list but will follow any updated recommendations provided by their local governments. As this is a developing story, all dates and status of operations are subject to change.

Wed 29/1
Hong Kong have returned to work and operating normally.

Mon 3/2
Dalian and Xingang plan to return to work.

Mon 10/2
Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen plan to return to work.

We have not received any information about liners canceling port calls. But the extension of Lunar New Year will result in schedule deviations due to the agents, warehouses, etc. being unmanned except for emergency hotlines.
It is not possible to provide any definitive schedules at this time due to the many uncertainties, but we will try to issue an update once this ongoing situation have stabilized.
