As you know congestion at the chicago and New York terminals is delaying the recovery of important containers inside of the allowed free time, resulting in an increased amount of demurage paid to carriers and terminals.
The terminal congestion is also severely impacting our ability to obtain appointments from the terminals in order to allow the return of empty containers inside of the allowed free time, resulting in increased detention costs.
To date, ECU Worldwide has been absorbing these costs.
Given that these conditions are expected to continue, ECU Worldwide will increase congestion fee to $20 w/m on ALL Chicago and New York devanned LCL consolidations for both Chicago/New York ending HBL’s and Chicago/New York IPI HBL’s.
